This may sound daunting with 80 counts, but it has so much repetition and very basic
moves that it's probably one of the easiest dances I have choreographed, so don't be
put off by the numbers. Although it is written as a "sequence dance" (which I always
hated to teach), there are really only 2 places where you have to alter the basic
'sequence' and think a little.
These 2 sections are;
*The instrumental section - which is a 'PART B" - so you will do 2 of these following
each other - You will start this facing the back wall and finish facing front
*You then dance one more PART A and repeat counts 1-16 of PART A again - You will
start and finish this facing front
As I attempted to do with the choreography, try to blend the Latin sound with
'Latin' moves and use the hips, especially on 'slide' and 'samba' steps - the dance
should have a 'light' and 'bouncy' feel to it and hopefully be fun to dance.
The selected music is a newer version of an old Harry Belafonte song which I think is
probably suitable for the dance also, although I am not 100% positive that the
phrasing is the same. This one is from the movie soundtrack to Baseketball, on
Mojo (BMG) label - released in 1998.
