These are stressful times, and balancing work, responsibilities, and finances can sometimes drive you crazy. Stress can be a real problem, but there are ways to deal with it.
Take a Yoga detox retreat, perform simple breathing exercises, and spend a few minutes concentrating on one thing. Meditation comes in many forms, but they all involve emptying the mind of your concerns, so your mind will be open to the broader perspective.
2. Get Some Sun
You don’t need to go to the beach and get a tan. Simply basking in the sun for a few minutes can cause your body to produce serotonin and endorphins that can lift your mood throughout the day. A short walk in the early morning is enough to activate the neurotransmitters in your brain — balancing your mood and lifting your spirits.
3. Spend Time with Family, Friends, or even Pets
Actual human contact with those you love produces the neurotransmitter oxytocin. Aptly called the “love hormone”, oxytocin is produced through physical contact and can be activated by a hug or even a simple touch of a hand.
4. Sweat it Out
Get your heart pumping and your muscles working. A 20 to 30-minute session of intense workout can do marvels for your mood. Exercise releases endorphins and also forces you to breathe properly. Do it early in the morning, and get that healthy dose of sunlight.
5. Do Something for Yourself
Having a goal, working towards it, and achieving it does a lot for your self-esteem. A sense of fulfilment can do away with most of the anxiety and depression you may be feeling. Start a craft, travel, or learn a language. As long as you are doing something you love, it can only make you feel better.
Stress can be a downer, but doing these little things can help you lead a happier and healthier life. Take a few minutes of your time to meditate, exercise in the sun, hang out with friends, or enjoy a little time for yourself can go a long way.
